SUSTAINABILITY. WALLFELT is 100% recyclable

The wall panel is made of felt made from polyester fibers, also known as PET, which is an abbreviation for Polyethylene Terephthalate. This plastic is one of the most widely used plastics in the world and is used for PET bottles, packaging and clothing, among other things.

Polyester is easy to recycle. Recycled polyester, also called rPET, is obtained by melting down and spinning "waste PET," after first being washed and cut into small pieces, into a new polyester fiber. The "waste PET" is mainly plastic bottles and packaging discarded by consumers and industry (post-industrial and post-consumer waste). The reuse creates a cycle system from a linear to a circular economy. WALLFELT consists completely of polyester fibers and is 100% recyclable and, like textiles, which also consist of fibers, can be easily and completely recycled. There are various options for handing in textiles and therefore also the wall panels. Think of special collection containers at supermarkets or in shopping centers. Municipalities must also have a place where you can hand in the (separated) waste. So you can also hand in the wall panels there.

However, by far the best option for handing in the wall panels is at .... us!!! We will then recycle the wall panel ourselves and make a different and new product from it and the cycle is closed. Your advantage: you get a 15% discount on your next order and you have a new interior also because there are new trend colors every year. You do not have to hand in all the wall panels, by keeping the basic colors for example, you can create a completely new atmosphere and interior with one or two new colors.

The advantage of recycled polyester is that the quality is comparable to new polyester and thus does not lose its value and gets a new life. As a result, no fossil fuels (petroleum) need to be used to produce new polyester, therefore fewer raw materials are used, energy is saved and fewer emissions take place and the environment is less burdened. Thus, the waste mountain is reduced and the oceans are cleaner. WALLFELT owns 50% recycled polyester fibers and 50% new polyester fibers. The production of recycled polyester compared to the production of new polyester saves energy and reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 50%. This means that WALLFELT is made with 25% less CO2 emissions. Our challenge for the near future is to further increase the proportion of recycled polyester fibers so that less CO2 is released into our environment.

WALLFELT contains 50% recycled polyester. One wall panel has a weight of about 300 grams. This means that one wall panel consists of 150 grams of recycled polyester, which corresponds to 15 Coca Cola plastic bottles !!!

The packaging of WALLFELT

WALLFELT is packaged in a corrugated cardboard box. Cardboard is 100% recyclable and an old box can easily be made into a new one. In addition, paper is environmentally friendly and 100% biodegradable. The box in which the wall panels are packed contains 77% recycled paper and is made to measure so that no empty space has to be filled with (plastic or other) filling material. In addition, fewer boxes can be transported in the delivery van if they are larger than necessary. This in turn saves packaging and CO2 emissions. Reuse the original packaging for returns as much as possible. The packaging is actually a large pizza box and can be opened easily and quickly from the front.

The delivery of WALLFELT

We have chosen PostNL as our parcel carrier, the largest parcel company in the Benelux with by far the most collection points than any other parcel carrier. Started over 200 years ago, PostNL is the first and only postal company in the Netherlands to process an average of 900,000 parcels and nearly 7 million letters. PostNL has set itself the ambitious goal of eventually delivering all parcels and letters in the Benelux 100% free of emissions by 2030, and as an interim goal, PostNL wants to deliver in 25 inner cities free of emissions by 2025.
